Mount Victoria served as an easily recognizable filming location for several scenes in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. It is such a popular destination for tours, tourists, and New Zealanders alike, that the filming locations’ trail has even been formally named Hobbit’s Hideaway.
